Academy Voters and 'Silence'

Academy Award winning director, Martin Scorsese, also a Palme d'Or winner is back after, "The Wolf of Wall Street", with his new film that was finally 'unspooled' for West Coast audiences that had guild members, Academy voters and journalists eager for "Silence"

While there is no doubt, it is one of the contenders, critics opine it’s hard to say, whether the film will walk away with Academy honors! For, "Silence", is a combination of tough subject matter and an inflated running time that could make it a dicey prospect.

The film is certainly a player in categories like costume design and production design. Rodrigo Prieto’s breathtaking cinematography, particularly in the first half of the film, will no doubt set him on course for his first Oscar win. Beyond that, critics feel, nothing feels as promising as it might have previously felt on paper. “Silence” is a passion project for Scorsese, but that passion won’t translate universally. Well, the universe is watching!
